Cycle paths and Rougham Airfield concert revisited.

Danger for cyclists on Moreton Hall
In an earlier posting I told you the borough was putting in double yellow lines in the cycleways next to the shop and I commended the authorities for acting so promptly.
Sadly, this has not been done. As the weeks have passed I have seen a number of near misses caused by car owners who have parked irresponsibly. Even worse, when the community support officers have asked people to use the car parks provided, some drivers have verbally abused them.
All this reflects very badly on our community and are we really going to have to wait until someone is injured or killed before something is done?

Rougham Airfield music concerts
I was very pleased to hear that the 'concert' or 'rave' at Rougham was cancelled.
The anti-social impact of this event on Bury in general and Moreton Hall in particular could have been very serious. This incident does raise some important questions for the future. The first is information.
Why was it so difficult to find out about what was going on? Why was there no mention of the event on the Rougham Airfield website? And why was there no attempt by the organisers to meet with the community to explain what they intended to do? Was it going to be a late night concert or was it going to be a rave? We will never know.
The second is the future.
How are we going to deal with this issue if it arises again and how will Rougham Airfield be able to operate as the newly constructed homes get ever closer to its boundaries?
The time has come for some open and intelligent debate about the future of Moreton Hall and how it will affect us all. I hope all the parties concerned will get together soon to facilitate such as a discussion.
