Letter from the Minister for April 2008

Snow at Easter
It was amazing to wake up on Easter morning and find more than 4 inches of snow dispersed around the Moreton Hall estate. The church looked very beautiful. I am pleased to say it did not stop people coming to church to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. More than 150 people were there with us on that Sunday morning. I don't know whether it was global warming or some other phenomenon which has caused weather patterns to change in recent years. However as I reflected upon a very strange occasion, a different thought came to mind.

At a stroke, God was able to change the world that we were expecting into something completely different. Everything was turned into beautiful picture of white, like a picture postcard. That must have been how the disciples felt on that first Easter morning. The very last thing there were expecting was for Jesus to be risen from the dead and for it to have such a lasting impact on their lives. It was not just that Jesus died and rose again, but their lives were so completely changed by these events, they never lived in the same way ever again.

I think God was sending us a message when He sent the snow. He was saying "I can still do unexpected things and I change change your life, and all our lives, into something completely unexpected and something beautiful and good".

If you want to see a complete change in your life, if you want to have an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, if you want God to do something completely unexpected and wonderfully beautiful, He is not only still able to do it, He is willing to do it if you ask Him. I think God has sent us all a message this Easter. Why not ask Him to see what he can do with your life?
