Marriage at Christ Church (and cycling on Moreton Hall)Marriage At Christ Church, Moreton Hall we take marriage very seriously. First there is the event itself. Everyone who has come to the church and seen its interior and use for weddings have been very pleased. Everyone can see and hear; there are comfortable chairs; there is good toilet and disabled facilities and a place for young children. And of course there is an easy access car park. Our well tended gardens mean that there are some excellent photographs and videos of the events and due to the way the service is conducted everybody comes out refreshed and having had an enjoyable time. We also endeavour to make sure our fees are low and that people are not penalised by coming to church for their wedding. At Christ Church, Moreton Hall our fees are almost a third lower than some other places and considerably lower than many of the hotels. But of course marriage is not just about the day and the cost of it, although with careful planning some of the excessive charges made by some places can be avoided. The real issue is life long commitment. This is obviously a very difficult thing to undertake and so many people have been disappointed and many are saying “why bother”. The answer to that is long and complicated, but here are some points to consider.
It is not surprising that the Bible recommends marriage continually and God puts it in at the very beginning of his book in Genesis as a command for all men and women. It is very rare that God gets something like this wrong. To that end, Christ Church, Moreton Hall in addition to offering marriage preparation they are also offering Marriage Enrichment Courses. This means that if you have been married for some time and have found things not quite as straightforward as you had hoped, there are ways of getting help, or indeed rediscovering yourself without it being heavy or confrontational. If you would like further information, please go to our website or contact the church office. Cycling on Moreton Hall I have often said in the pages of this newspaper how excellent the cycle facilities are on the Moreton Hall estate. It is easy to get around the estate with perfect safety along the wonderful pathways that have been put in. However, I was concerned about the new cycle ways, which have been put near the shop, as yellow lines do not support them. Serious accidents could happen here, but I have been told that the borough is putting in double yellow lines after all. It is so good to see that the authorities are on top of such matters and have acted promptly. Jonathan Ford's blog | Posted at 17 Jul 2007 - 15:50 | News
