You may have heard that the Archbishop of Canterbury wil be visiting Bury St Edmunds on Friday 5th June. There is an open invitation to everyone to join a picnic in the Abbey Gardens from 1pm. The Archbishop will be in the gardens from approx 1-2pm and it is hoped that he will be able to meet as many people as possible. Just bring a picnic, or just be there at that time. If it is raining, head for the Marquee, near the river. Soft drinks will be on sale here too. Prior to th picnic, the Archbishop will attend a service at which he will consecrate the new parts of the Cathedral, namely the Chapel of the Transfiguration, the Crypt and the Cloisters. Church leaders from churches across the town have been invited to this service.
