Teenage Tips for Parents, part 4
Life is not so simple for teenagers, as you think! School, friendships, examinations, sports, clubs, swotting and parents are some of the activities they are juggling to fit into a day. Little wonder they become confused and even angry. Emotions too are running high; they may be coping with self doubt, self image, turmoil, perceived depression and feeling a failure because of the examination results. Your son or daughter actually needs you to be there, not in their face but JUST THERE! There to listen, there to love, there to understand, there to encourage, and there to be a friend rather than a parent! What did Jesus say in John 15, "I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you". Parents can we catch something of that message when our teenager struggles, they are our friend as well as our son or daughter!
