What a week that was!

Late March through to early April have been quite extraordinary at Christ Church Moreton Hall, with involvement in two big events.

On March 31st we welcomed over 100 guests to CCMH for an evening with Esther McCarthy. As well as an exceptional meal we were treated to a wonderful concert from Esther and her band, featuring songs from her debut album 'New Beginnings' and some fascinating insights into her life so far. After having been through difficult and distressing times of ill health it is wonderful to witness her developing talent and her openness in sharing her story with others; please go to www.esthermccarthy.co.uk for more on her story and ways to buy her excellent album. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the event team who made the evening possible.

And then, on Good Friday, several of us were involved in the Passion Plays in the town. I was not involved last year, so this was a first for me as I volunteered to join the Roman Army for the day, wearing chain mail, helmet, sword and shield, and threatened the good people of Bury with a big stick. As part of the cast I could not watch much of the action, but it was interesting to see the reactions of some of the 2,000 or so people who came to watch. It is my hope and prayer that for some, who perhaps do not yet know the joy of having the Lord Jesus in their lives, the depiction of His suffering and death will have given them more to think about over Easter than chocolate and gardening. Having seen my wife Vanessa's excellent pictures and the event video I have to say Ben did a superb job portraying our Lord, and it was good to see him back at work on Saturday in the book shop looking fit and well. A big vote of thanks to the boss, Jonathan Ford, and all those who made this excellent event happen.

So what next? For us as a family these are exciting and challenging times as I change career in a few weeks time. My daughter Sarah has her next TCT event on April 21st. We are also heavily involved at New Wine in the summer, but until then.....?
