We were founded by all the Christian denominations in Bury St. Edmunds in 1985.
Over the years we have developed into a Church of England Parish where every Christian is able to worship and serve Christ regardless of denomination background.
It is our aim to share the love of Christ with everyone, whatever their need, background or past. We offer the full range services and facilities for all ages.
Whilst Christ Church, Moreton Hall is a fully ecumenical church involving people from all denominations it is still part of the diocese of St. Edmundsbury and Ipswich. The diocese was formed in 1914 and covers most of the county of Suffolk with the exception of Lowestoft. It has 447 churches, 120 full time clergy and another 200 or so full time volunteers, many of whom are ordained into a self supporting ministry. The Bishop is Martin Seeley who is ably assisted by his suffragan, Michael of Dunwich.
The main emphasis in the diocese is a programme called ‘Growing in God’ which is encouraging the church to grow deeper, grow in influence, grow in numbers and to grow younger. Christ Church fully supports this initiative and many of our ministry activities are centred around this plan.
